I recognize that a crowded gym is an intimidating and distracting environment for many people, so I built a custom 750 square-foot private fitness studio on my one-acre lot. It's equipped with an array of functional exercise and commercial grade cardio equipment.
And yes, it does have a full bathroom!
My name is Leslie Johnston. I spent 25 years at a desk job as an international accountant for San Francisco Bay Area technology companies - and I wasn't happy. Most days the only thing that got me out of bed was my morning run, bike or aerobics class. About 10 years ago, I started having chronic pain (osteoarthritis) in my hip joint and realized I needed to give up some of the activities that were aggravating the situation. Running was an obvious irritant, but swimming and yoga were also problematic, which I just couldn't understand. I was truly distraught and spiraling into depression when I met a personal trainer at a neighbor's birthday party. He listened to my story and developed a program to put me back in action. I learned how to replace old activities with new functional movements that still challenged me both physically and mentally. I finally woke up one day and asked myself why I was still toiling away at a career that drained my energy when I could be helping others on a similar journey back to being active. Or maybe I could be the inspiration for someone who has never been active to want to reach for their "gym" shoes and give it a try! I exchanged my CPA for a CPT and haven't looked back!
So my mission is this: Let me coach you to put and/or keep your body in motion!
If you are struggling with what to do, how to get started or how to stay consistent, leverage my energy and experience as a personal trainer to develop a program and help you get moving!
I start everyone with a free physical assessment where we also talk about goals, lifestyle and any perceived barriers to activity. From the physical assessment I identify areas of strength and weakness and then design a unique program for each client. I monitor progress in each session and update the program appropriately to ensure your mind and body continue to adapt to new and more complex movements. I focus on effective breathing patterns and proper body form as critical building blocks for all advanced movements. The end result is a highly personalized experience for each client!
